This may get things going for you. If you want the power with lighter weight and you want to build a nice rock crawler you need the SBC LS1 with the 4L60E auto tranny. All aluminum block aluminum heads composit intake. 325 hp 320lb/t. Advanced adapters makes a 4L60E to Dana 300 (atlas II) t-case adapter. That is what I recommend for a swap.
I put a 89 HO 302 with a C-4 in a jeep backed up to a Dana 300. It sounded good ran good but I wanted more power. I now have a 93 RX-7 with a LS-1 with a T56 and the swap is great.

The head
Ok so the head has a crack between the intake an exhaust valves on the third cylcinder back. The crack is so small I'm tempted to just tig weld it an call it good. Napa is where I took it to have the valves resurfaced and they found the crack. Does anyone know if they would resurface them if I just welded the crack back up? Or maybe is some shops actually do that for you? Otherwise I may need a head guys. Anyone got a used one they wanna sell?
