Talking him down, so you can get the items fixed so it will pass inspection is a great way to get some cash taken off the top.

I thought the other issues were relatively cheap and easy.
I can get a windshiled locally for a little discount over retail.
I just need to negotiate a price and take a look at it in person.

My personal opinion...if you want a good, reliable trail rig...be prepared to spend $10K or more to get it there.
I didn't look at the one you listed, but I can bet from experience that is a good number to go by...ask Schaefer...he'll tell you...he's got a $9K buggy that doesn't even move yet.

I realize it will take $$$ to get it where I WANT IT, but I can do minor things to get it streetable.
Like everything it will continue to get modded, but check out the ad and give me a personal opinion

the fenders are the same and the bumper will also fit.

***editorial comment on the person about to give the reply, he is a cynic and replies are generally colored as such***
Ok, with that little admission out the way. To me, this truck looks like a trail rig. Changing a DD into a trail rig is one thing. Changing a trail rig back into a DD is something else entirely.
Mileage is a guesstimate. How long has the speedo been broken? How long with those gears for that tire size? Mileage adds up especially once the truck goes offroad and clearly that one has been offroad plenty. How much offroading on those parts? I kind of get the impression this truck was built some time back. Now to reiterate, offroading = wear and tear.
Frame condition? Any stress fractures, rust?
Rear window work at all? Noticed everything is covered in snow, but the window is down.
Any damage to axle internals when the diff broke? What tires were they running before? Odd to see a truck so wrinkled, but shiny white letter MTRs on it with no scuffs.
I am not saying that the seller is in anyway being misleading, the fact that the pics are so clear at showing the damage is proof enough.
Any noises in the engine? Timing chain replaced? Run rich, lean, loosing coolant?
I'd send a whole laundry list of questions over.
Like I said, I'm a cynic so I tend to be negative, but what I see is a truck that has had it's fun and for some reason the current owner is ready to move on from it, but can't get anybody to buy it. Check out that listing date; 8-16-2005. Pretty darn long time to be trying to sell an '85 4Runner and there are probably good reasons why. Offer half that and expect to put the half you saved into the truck's mechanical and safety issues right off the bat then hope you don't wind up having to double that again anytime soon LOL!
Just a cynic's opinion.

I still want a 60, but right now it isn't a reality.
I might wait until I graduate from Wyotech and SAS a 2nd gen myself.
perhaps my buddy's 79 Bronco is the ay to go....

I do love Toys, but I WON"T own a 3.0 and that is the only thing for sale.
Find me a 22re Toy that is not on the west coast and not $8k and we will talk.
callmej has offer to check out the 85 and the seller is sending me more pics.
