camber adjustment 85 solid axle

Hi guys my wheels seem to be further apart on the tops . I dont think I could have bent the axle resulting in this condition . I cant for the life of me see how that could have happened . I could see the tops getting closer from stupid stuff like jumping and what not but im not doing anything like that . Do you think a funky toe setting could cause it to look this way ? Im really confused on how to correct it . any suggestions are greatly appreciated .Thanks

Possibly wheel or trunnion bearings? They checked ok?

Thanks for the replys guys . So no I havent actually had them checked on an alignment rack .I do know the bearings are good and knuckles have been rebuilt with the full kits from trail gear .(nice kit BTW) There is no slop or non of that stuff with the trunion or wheel bearings . The wheels just look slightly out on the tops of the tires . like this \ /

EFI 85. just saw your post and was wondering if you ever figured it out, the camber that is . Cuz mine are the same way and its 85 efi solid axle also and have done a crap load to try to fix this , and the wandering . trunions ,knuckles , tie rods and alignment , tomorrow gonna get another align,and see if that helps.
Just thought I'd rattle your cage for info thanks

Im sellin an axle housing for $150. Its nice

But you'd know if you bent it. I have,, it hurts Hurts you in the cab I mean..

Only way to change camber on a solid axle truck is to add shims behind the spindle which is not suggested. The only way your camber is off is something is bent or worn out.

No never got it fixed . On top of it my truck also got hit at the gun store in Vacaville and I came outside to my right front wheel pointing towards the left front wheel and the center tie rod was bent really bad so I had to jack it up as straight as possible to even be able to drive it home . I got it home straightened out the tie rod and I did beef it up quit a bit by sleeving it with a piece of seemless pipe and welding it into place then I attempt to align it in my driveway which really helped the handling but not the camber. I do need to have the toe set on it though on an alignment rack . I think a little toe in would help stop the wondering some of us are dealing with . Sorry kinda off topic but I thought it kinda related ..lol.

trunions are new from the complete trail gear knuckle rebuild kit . And it was this way with the old trunions as well

DITTO on the same with new and old trunions its still not straight up and down sighting down the truck at bothe fnt and back. Maybe it's my 33's .Dunno it seems there'd be a ton on this cuz it seems alot of folks have front end wobbles and off camber with the solid axle.

Have you attached a level to your front rotors to see if actually there is any camber, positive or negative ? While this is not the proper way to check it will give you an indication of whether you have positive camber or not.
If anybody you know has an old school caster/camber guage you could slap that on and get a decent reading.

If you bent it it does hurt in the cab. I took mine in to get it looked at and was told there is no real adjustment. I just went to 10.5 to 12.5 and it went straight again. She got stolen before I could rebuild/replace it. now I want a new one.

Sensei, yeah I did just put a level on and driver side is out about 3/16 so not sure what to do now .
I did read a thread that shot me to Pirate and they were talking of shims under the spring perches to help out ? seems not connected directly? but my leafs are negative arched and was wondering if that is about kinda the same . so if I got dif. springs that may fix it . and dont think axle is bent.
ANYONE WITH THOUGHTS ON THIS

Ya having the kingpin bearings not level to the ground will make it steer all kinds of crazy.

And by that I mean if you draw a line straight threw the upper and lower bearings, that line should be close to plumb to the ground

so Guy how do you go about fixing that .any ideas,shims? a shim ontop would pull it back up ,maybe . I'll keep searching thanks

Honestly If your going to the trouble to stuff shims under there, you should just replace the springs

I'm a little lost shims under the leaf springs isn't gonna change the camber of a solid axle Unless I'm missing something . And correct me if I'm wrong but the only shims in there are for the trunions and those only check the end play of the bearings to make sure they're snug enough not to wiggle around and destroy them selves .

No it wouldn't change the camber, unless your alignment was off.
It would change the handling of the truck.
