Seriuosly, great job, it must be a WA thing with doing clean bed bobs that don't look too short. I did 101/2" on mine, and added a little bondo then some Krylon to match it up.

Adding some backing material from the section you cut out to the backside where you weld and rosette welding it in on the sides will do a lot for strengthening the bob. Got one at the shop now we have to fix as it's vibrated loose on the bed bottom cause it didn't have enough support underneath where it was bobbed.

You did put something on the back side to cover the bare meatal right? otherwise it will rust from the inside out. Looks good though. Hope it lasts! Makes me wish I didn't have fibreglassbox sides so I could do the same thing. I hate working with fibreglass.

Yes, i took care of the bare metal to keep it from rusting. i would hate working with fibergalss as well
