22R Mysterious oil leak

Hi everyone! I solved the problem with the oil leak, however I am posting here just in case others have experienced a mysterious oil leak that they just could not seem to figure out. Turns out that it was leaking straight out of the fuel pump out of all things...

Within the past two months I had noticed that I would have to put approximately one or two quarts of oil in the engine per week. At the same time, it was obvious that oil was seeping out of somewhere and it actually looked as though oil had been sprayed onto everything on the passenger's side of the engine bay. The thing that didn't make any sense was that I just simply did not see any oil actually seeping out of ANYWHERE every time that I looked for a leak. Eventually I pulled the truck into the garage and scoured everything, trying desperately to find SOMEWHERE that the oil could be coming from. After a few hours of searching, I finally traced the oil back to a little breather hole on the underside of the fuel pump. It turns out that the fuel pump is lubricated directly from the engine oil and it also has a rubber diaphragm inside of it that moves up and down to pump fuel as the engine is turning over. Since this pump is original with the truck and being from 1984, the rubber diaphragm in the fuel pump was just simply worn out. But the reason why I never actually witnessed it leaking is simply because it only leaked, and spewed out quarts of oil when I would first start up the truck on a very cold day (approx below 20 degrees F). Once the rubber diaphragm in the fuel pump had time to expand and the engine to warm up, the leaking would stop completely.

I bought a new $50 fuel pump from autozone, took 10 minutes to install it and problem solved! Hope this helps!
