Toyota TRD Pro Tundra SEMA 2022

Toyota brought over a dozen truck & SUV concepts to SEMA 2022 to inspire builders and show off Toyota’s Overlanding capabilities.

Toyota has a portfolio of impressive trucks and SUVs. The 4Runner, Tundra, Sequoia, and Tacoma are all capable vehicles right from the factory. However, part of the pleasure in owning one of those vehicles is the ability to customize it to make it your own. And while aesthetic improvements are always fun it is the functional upgrades that really take your ride to the next level. Toyota wants people to realize that they don’t need to turn to a brand like Jeep to have a rugged, modified off-roader. The company brought over a dozen build concepts to SEMA 2022. Each of these builds illustrates just how capable and flexible the Toyota platform can be.

The refreshing thing about the builds that Toyota brought to SEMA is that none of them are wild, over-the-top builds that make no sense in the real world. Any of the builds that they had on hand could be used as a daily driver if you wanted to go that route. Of course, if you wanted to live off the grid for a while some of the concept vehicles on hand could handle that as well. Overall, it was an impressive display in versatility from Toyota.

Tundra Lift

SEMA 2022 Tundra

An example of a milder build is this Tundra with a 3-inch lift. The kit is designed and developed by TRD. It includes Bilstein-tuned front and rear shocks. Forged upper control arms by Roush as well as front lower knuckles, stabilizer links, tie rods, extended drive shafts, and jounce bumpers are also included. There are extended brake flex hoses and rear spring spacers as well. This kit will retail for about $3,995 and come with a full three-year warranty.  For a little more fun and capability there is a kayak carrier and a bed rack. It is an excellent example of what Toyota offers without voiding any factory warranty or having to break the bank.

Overlanding Sequoia

SEMA Sequoia

Want to kick things up a notch? There is the Overlanding Sequoia TRD Off-Road concept. This rig was built by 4WD Toyota Owner Media. This rig has the works. Up top, there is a roof rack with a rooftop tent. There is extra fuel and water storage. There is an onboard air regulator. Skid plates, rock sliders, front and rear bumpers protect the vehicle while doing some rock crawling. If you get in a bind there is a winch and traction boards to help you out. And a whole lot more. This is a more robust build that shows what a Sequoia is capable of.

Extreme Tundra

X Overland

This vehicle was built by X Overland and it shows the world just how far you can go with a Toyota Tundra. It has similar upgrades to the Sequoia mentioned above but takes it to the next level by offering things such as Webasto Evo 40 heating system, a 40-liter National Luna refrigerator and a Goose Gear internal storage system. When you want to disappear for a while this is the rig you want to be in.

And More

SEMA 2022 Tacoma

The above vehicles are just a couple examples of what was on display at SEMA 2022. There was a modified 4Runner, and Tacoma along with several other Tundra and Sequoia builds. The point is this. If you are serious about going off-road, then Toyota has you covered. The vehicles they build are terrific platforms that will allow you to build the off-roading machine of your dreams.
