Toyota goes the extra mile by giving Immortals Gaming Company a super-cool decked-out 4Runner.

Surely quicker than we’d all like, more and more of the world is becoming digital. Cars have dozens of software-dependent devices on board, while several other carmakers are attempting to adopt an all-electric lifestyle. Looking beyond the automotive world, almost everything can be controlled from an app. WiFi is almost everywhere. And now, video games, with their vast and very competitive online empires, are becoming professional sports. That’s right. Playing online video games can actually be made into a respectable living. However, professional sports presents the need for professional sponsors. The ever-progressive Toyota was quick to hop onto the esports ship as part of the crew.

Last February, Toyota announced its partnership with Immortals Gaming Company (IGC) to be its exclusive automotive sponsor. IGC, which is an esports and gaming company, takes pride in being one of the first esports companies to host esports events and is well known within the online gaming community. They own and manage several other professional gaming teams such as Los Angeles Valiant who largely play Overwatch, and OpTic Gaming, who specialize in Call of Duty. IGC themselves were made famous by their skills at League of Legends – a specialty they maintain even today.

In addition to teams, IGC also manages international gaming companies like MIBR and Gamers Club, which happen to be two of the leading matchmaking platforms and community hubs for gamers in Latin America.

Recently, Toyota SoCal commemorated their newfound partnership by presenting the California based esports company with a 4Runner sporting the theme and colors of the game that got IGC famous: League of Legends. When first announcing their choice in partnering with IGC, Toyota expressed its desire to better connect with young buyers. It’s a brilliant marketing strategy – Millenials and Gen Xers will see their favorite esports teams sporting Toyota’s logo, on top of them driving a 4Runner with the team’s logo and the theme of the game that started it all for them.
