A search for suggestions about wheels for a 1986 Toyota pickup truck sparks some great advice from fellow truck owners and enthusiasts.

Sometimes a simple spark could ignite an inferno of ingenious ideas. We’ve seen that happen more than a few times in our forums. And the latest instance includes a simple question leading to a very exclusive, studied, and one-of-a-kind list of valuable insisted and recommendations for fellow Toyota truck owners and enthusiasts.

This one, titled “1986 Toyota 4WD Wheel Recommendations,” is seeking advice on the best tires for a classic Toyota pickup truck. And Toyota truck owners were there to recommend the best options out there based on their own personal experience of kicking ass in their Yotas, whether it involved weekend trips to the outlet mall or bogging through badlands over the years and seeing which of their wheels held up best through their daily driving and weekend adventures.

Chevrolet Forum member CalForester kick-started the forum thread over a year ago and it’s still getting responses all the way up to this week. Here’s the situation:

I’ve been driving Toyota’s for a while, but recently helped my little sister purchase a 1986 Toyota Pickup for her first car. It’s in pretty good shape, but the original white steel wheels are looking pretty rough. I’m looking for recommendations for wheels that would fit the truck. I’d really like to buy some new take-offs from a 2018 or 2019 Tacoma and use those, but I’m not sure if they’ll fit. If any body has any experience using these wheels on a similar year truck, I’d love to hear them and see pictures. Here’s a picture of the new truck in the driveway after a lot of cleaning and waxing, etc.

And the responses came quickly from fellow YotaTech forum members from across the country and around the world, and you just can’t argue with experience.
