well the chain's been on and off making the noise, but it seems to be more present after it warms up. nah I'm not taking it to Napa; a guy at work is giving me the number to a shop that he get's his motor's done for his race car; suppose to be really good work. I'll have him to the machining, and depending on how much he'll charge, I might have him put the rotating assymbely together too. I dunno about the head yet... I've seen some new casting ones with oversized valves for over $1,000, and then I've seen some for $400... I don't want to go cheap, but I don't want to spend $1,000 on one head either, lol.

Which machine shop are you taking it to? If your taking it to NAPA off of Garden St. it's gonna take longer than a week. Where are you buying the head the head from?

Hey buddy! Yeah mine's make'n a lotta racket; it's getting lounder by the day, lol. The guide on the driver's side is completely broken in half, and the chain's got a BUNCH of slack in it... it's gotta last me through next week; after that, it's getting parked and the motor's getting ripped out, for a week long (hopefully not longer) rebuild! Going to order about $1,500 of parts from LCE (a master rebuild kit with some higher compression pistons, a steel-guided timing chain set, high volume oil pump, decent size street cam), going to send the injectors out to get cleaned, flow tested, and matchs, and doing a complete tear-down and rebuild myself; getting the block bored and decked and everything; but I'm still up in the air about either getting my head rebuilt, or just buying a new one with some oversized valves and such...
