Question Networking Issue-Complicated

Here at work I have 2 comps sharing job files. D1 has all of the files, printer and plotter plugged directly to it. D2 has a computerized router table plugged into it. D1 and D2 talk together fine when sending jobs to the printer and plotter, my only problem occurs when trying to open a job file on D2 from D1. It acts like D1 is trying to send the entire jobs folder(3.10 GB) to D2. How do I set it up to where it only sends the file names in the jobs folder instead of the whole folder?

What are you using as far as things like OS, networking equipment, and the like?

Well I don't think it's gathering all the files but the list of files in the folder.

Do you have a mapped drive where you could just type in the filename?

or you could copy the file locally and run it from a temp drive.

You could also break the D2 folder into multiple folders to cut down the number of files.
