I used to have battlefield 1942 a while back. I'm not a big gamer but it was a cool game. If you search around the web you can get skins for the game to make it a WWI game or Vietnam game. It's also cool because you can be infantry, drive, fly, or whatever.
If you want a really cool game and are into simulation driving games, check out Screamer 4x4. You can drive a double locked BJ60 landcruiser or a unimog. Its an amazingly technical game. None of that unrealistic jumping 80ft in the air crap. Theres codes on gamespot to get more stuff, lockers, tires, motors. The trucks on the game are really cool though. Defender, Shogun, G-wagon, Jeeps, BJ60, and a Monster Yota if you use the codes.

I'm still playing Medal of Honor: Breakthrough!
I bought BF 2142 the other day, but have yet to install it.
