What do I need to run a wire to the battery?

I bought a CB and I want to run the pos wire to the battery. I know the wire isint long enough.

Should I buy some 12 gauge wire, crimps to link the two and then what do I need to attach it to the battery wire bolt thing.

Im such an electronic noob I read all the tech articles, but they dont state the obvious!!

sc,

i really recommend putting in an auxiliary fuse box and then power up your cb and all your future 12v accessories from it. did you see my writeup in the tech section (the cobra 75 one).

never crimp wires, imho. what an unstable connection. give it a good yanky yanky, and there goes that connection. always solder. look in the tech section for my "soldering 101" writeup

connecting to battery: use a ring connector. they are found at the auto parts store.

grounds: make sure you take some paint off and then use a self-tapping metal screw to secure it.

that should give you all the info you need. any more questions, write me back but *after* reading the writeups referneced above. ill know if you didn't

well said but i still have to admit that i crimp a lot of my wires just because it is easier, i just might have to redo my stuff no that i have the means to do so and need to run new lights anyway.

there are times that crimping might be acceptable. for instance, t-tap'g a connection that runs perpendicular from a wire that is buried or bundled very close to other wires. but for SC's wiring job, he needs to connect and extend the cb's wire from the battery to the cb. butt connecting this would work, but not be the best, most permanent way.
