HOWEVER - one nice thing about old cars is that most of them are pretty damn simple audiowise, unlike a current Mach 460... So help me god ill shoot the SOB that came up with that system....can anyone tell my why that idiot engineer decided that 3 amps for an 8 speaker system was such a WONDERFUL idea?!?! Dont let me near any ford engineers.!!! GRR (JK on all of that stuff Im just venting frustration by talking it off...lol)

(Seats are easy to pull - I can have mine out of the truck in about 30 seconds per seat - literally. All you need is just a 15mm (or 14?) on a drill adapter and pretend you are changing the tires on a nascar in the pits at daytona...)

You should not be running power wire through a door jam. Find an unused grommet in the firewall. If there isnt one get out your drill and make a hole just sized for the grommet they supply in all wiring kits.

I once put a stereo in a Cement Pumper truck...Damn thing had such thick steel in the control cab that broke SEVERAL jigsaw blades while trying to cut holes for speakers.
The worst car I ever put in speakers was an old Monte Carlo that the guy had like 10 USED diapers in the trunk, I gagged while trying to mount the rear speakers. LOL!

Anyhow through the firewall (with a grommet to protect the wire's insulation from the sharp edges of the firewall metal) and under the carpet next to the door jam for you!

Fireteacher,
You said you used a 17' RCA. How much did you actually need? How much slack to you have?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you ran the RCA from the HU, over to the driver's side, under the plastic cover at the bottom of the door, and into the back of your cargo area. Right? (Just want to make sure I have the full picture)
Where did you end up mounting your Basslink? (Which corner of the cargo area?)
I can get a set of 11.5' RCA's and I plan to run mine from the HU along the center console, under the carpet and just past the back seat, so I'm thinking my path will be short enough that they just might work.
Oh and
Erich

not sure, but 11.5 should be enough, but the extra length is handy if you have to move things around and what not. u can always coil the excess up and leave it somewhere out of sight. usually, a sub will sound best facing the back of the cargo area, but im not sure...its up to you i guess. try different locations out and see how it sounds

I have 3 sets of 17foot RCA's and I ran them from the dash, under the door trim panel, then back through the rear seats. And YOU can do the install, its not that hard. I just wired 1/0 Gauge power wire in my 4runner last night so RCA's are nothing to be scared of.
Got to love trying to hide a hose under a thin carpet layer. And yes, you cant really tell its there, we did a great job.
