Please help with steering wheel controls

Hey Folks,
Was wondering if Toyota ever made steering wheel controls for 3rd gen 4runners and which stock deck would work for it? Wondering since I got me a 98 4runner SR5 steering wheel control from a salvage yard and wanted one for my '02 sport....along with the 6 disc OEM deck if there was to be one...if not then anything from toyota that would work would be awesome just as long as its OEM since I don't live in a good neighborhood and don't want my baby violated. THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Steering wheel control adapters are now available for most brands for use with aftermarket HU's. Why not just purchase an HU that works for your needs. Then either mod the steering wheel controls you find (preferable Toyota model and year closest to your truck) or purchase directly from the dealer. Then buy the appropriate steering wheel control adapter..

3rd gens never came with wheel mounted audio controls. You might be able to adapt the controls from a Sienna, but I have never seen it done so I do not know how to do it. 4th gens came with steering wheel controls option, so that may be another option as well.

i actually pulled the steering wheel controls off of a '98 4runner SR5 and its definitely stock bro. So why wouldn't the limited ones off of a 2002 4runner not have it? I really want the OEM HU and stock steering wheel controls simply because its nicer looking and it fits perfectly on the left side of the steering wheel. its just that the steering wheel on the '98's underside is not the same as mine...the unit that I pulled fits just dandy on that one and not on my '02 4runner. I just don't want to pull my steering wheel off and throw a lexus one on there if I don't have to an also spend the money. Any help with part numbers for the steering wheel controls would be appreciated and as well as a stock HU that is 2 din and as well as mp3, wma, 6 disc changer, heck even navi. The HU doesn't have to be off a 4runner. TIA
Ken

oh yeah....it was attached with a harness too.

okay, just spoke with toyota and they said that it is deinitely aftermarket even if there was a harness and/or if it fits snugly on the steering wheel. I guess I'm just a dope. Thanks for answering my questions guys.
