Crazy idea for a side door in a pickup.
I've had an idea for awhile... and I think I remember seeing a newer truck(prototype) that they built something similar on. It would basically be a cut out section on the driver side front section of the bed, that would have a handle and would fold down producing steps into the bed. I was thinking it would be pretty killer to create something like this, and have my canopy open up gull-wing style to allow access into the rear when I put seats in the back. It would be much nicer than climbing in through the tailgate. Has anyone seen something like this or know if it's been done before? I'd love to see some pictures if it has been done before.

let me get this right, you want to make a door or something like it behind the cab, in the side of the bed that opens up so you can access the bed instead of droping the tailgate, and have your canopy open up from the sides instead of the rear, and your gonna install seats in the bed, so i'll be like a 4runner?

I actually seen that done a while back on a concept truck(I think) on something like car and driver TV.I know this doesn't help much, but I'm sure someone will chime in on it.

I'll just have to look around... I wouldn't be ready to do this now. No funds. But just something I'd like to find pictures of.
**edit**
Ok, not quite the same idea. But similar.
