definitly go with 3/16 i built one out of 1/8 and it is all dented and warped after a year, im gona build a new one this month heres some good links for ideas, that im gona follow.

It will depend on your type of wheeling.
I built my sliders out of 1/8" steel. It was in no way strong enough.
I have literally broken my kickouts off, not at the weld, but actually torn the metal in half. I also, this past weekend, warped my slider into the body. It didn't pull off the frame, but the front outrigger and main beam bent.
1/8" is too thin to accommodate hard hits. Moderate wheeling and protection will be fine.
I'm bumping up to 1/4".
