Andy, this bumper design is really looking good, hope to see some more pics when you get a chance. I might copy your tire carrier design and modify it to fit mine...
keep up the good work!

yesterday i got the main rail tapered and welded up. got the 1.5" angle iron on the center of the bottom rail. still have to get the angle on the tapered part, but first, i wanted to check how it looked.
got the OEM bumper, hitch receiver and spare off today. got the main rail up to where it will be and made a mock up of one of the side wings...

yeah, i bet you're having fun w/ "bob"
i found one thing i'll have to work out by making the mock-up. i'll have to look closely at the placement of the carrier spindle before i cut off the passenger side to make sure that there's enough steel there to give it enough clearance from the body. nothing big, but just time consuming.

I wasn't expecting that the bumper would be sticking out so much farther than stock. I see the problem, though: keeping the stock plastic step AND having a swing out tire carrier. How do you feel about the departure angle?

That looks great. Really impressive. Especially since it is your first bumper
Are you putting the exhaust cut out in the side wing???
I can't wait to see the tire carrier
