I normally recommend guys either weld on the bumper in 1" stitches or weld in the 1/4 wall plate behind it. I have had two of my bumpers ripped off people's rigs who didn't do this. Nothing happened to the bumper itself, just the stock mounting holes were ripped through the frame. Once fixed correctly, the bumper went right back on.

Its bare metal, because they are shipped with just a label on them. Its impossible to box these up, and powder coating and boxing to protect it would add a significant cost to the price. Thus the reason an ARB bumper is $750+
Oh, and I will have better pics up shortly for these. We are building a few off the prototype to set up jigs and will have them ready next week.

would it be possible to build a front bumper to accomodate a 3" body lift for a truck across the country? my 88 has a 3" body lift that i'd love to get rid of but i'd have to redo the exo and redo the armour for the cases.

Thanks for the info provided by PM. One last question, but thought others might be wondering the same so posting it. Any plans to offer a fully bolt on model that's still up to winching. I'm sure welding is the best, but I'd have to find a local shop to weld it and I also don't know if I want it to be that permanent.

The issue lies in the stock mounting crossmember. Its only .90" steel(less than 1/8" thick and when you have an 8000lb winch pulling you, it will create a problem eventually. Its not an issue with the bumper at all needing to be welded on, just that I recommend reinforcing the stock crossmember because its too thin.
This is off of Front Range Offroad's site:
Look at how the threads are stripped and how thin the steel is. When winching, the winch will pull the bolts through the crossmember. Even with six bolts there.

Okay, here is our new full production model. We finished it today and now have the templates laid out. These are ready to order, but we build them once ordered so they take about 2 weeks once ordered. We are trying to get some done so they are available immediately, but as soon as we build them, they sell.
This bumper will hold any winch that has your typical 10" x 4.5" mounting pattern. That includes most Warn, Milemarker, Superwinch, Ramsey, Tabor, Tmax, etc. Integrated Solenoid winch may require some minor trimming of the grill on some models.

Looks great. I see what your saying about welding it on being pretty much necessary for winching due to the stock crossmember. In addition to the suggested welding, it looks like this bumper mounts using six bolts on the front. Is that correct? Are the 4 pipe ends (2 by the winch fairlead opening and 1 by each side running light) capped?

how exactly would you re enforce the crossmember? I've got a push bumper that I think I can secure a winch plate to, but now that I'm hearing that I can't winch from a bolt on bumper, I'm curious as to how you would re enforce it.
