Nice, will add them to the site when it goes back up. Have been thinking abouyt a plain front bumper too, just enough to push stuff around, and if they can make the swing out carrier like Rocky MTn Fab I might get both for the same price with no shipping.

Their prices looked reasonable though they were for Jeep stuff. Still waiting to hear from them where they are located. The 703 area code covers a wide area.

I got another email from Sean at SKB PERFORMANCE & OFF ROAD, right now they're located in the Ashburn/Sterling area. He said they're moving to a new shop in Leesburg soon. I'm going to print off some of the custom bumper pics I've seen posted and ask what it would cost. I would also like to check out their location too.

Roadrunner,
Could you share the web sites with us that you are getting shots of the bumpers from? That would be great, because I'm trying to gather as much info for my custom rear bumper too. Chris |

I like the Rockware rear bumpers that Darren has on his 4Runner. He has a very nice rig.

Yepper! Those are definitely sweet rigs and bumpers. That takes a lot of time and effort to do all that bending and welding, and I'm personally looking for an easier design, so it's cheaper to make, but still as strong and good looking. Are you basically going to make yours as close to theirs as possible?

I spoke with SKB regarding a possible build for my 4Runner. I was surprised to find out that the swing-out tire carrier doubles the overall cost.
I'm working on drafting plans for a rear cargo storage box I'd like to build. For the time being, while deciding what I want to do, I'm going to put the spare in the cargo box.

Yep, that's what I'm going to be doing too! The tire carrier is a pain the butt getting into anyway, but it does look cool. I'm going to go with a higher clearance too with the hitch being the lowest point by only about 1", but it will rub first, and not the entire bottom side of the bumper.

Didn't realize you responded already. Ideally, if I have the money, I'd like something similar. I'm torn whether or not to get a swing-out carrier.
If I get just a custom rear bumper, no carrier, I could put the savings towards a rear locker and new gears.

A locker is the best thing a person can do for off-roading, period! I'd recommend going without the tire carrier and get the locker and gears. And if you can, go ahead if you're regearing get an ARB for up front too. Then you'll be unstoppable on the trail.
