I just barely got 33x13.50 swamper LTB's but I know the dude who sold me the tires and he says he can get me a deal on 36x12.50 TSL/SX tires $200 ea.

Since I haven't used the tires at all since it's sitting on jack stands he says I can still return them and goto a bigger tire.

1. I have 4" of lift pretty sure with some trimming I can run 36's
2. I am geared at 5.29's already so I can turn them
3. I have longfeild birf's installed

What should I do?

Ya it is a good deal.
I do have the money to do this deal however I would have to save up for a while to get another fullsized 36" spare tire. I can get a 35" BFG that is worn for cheap to get me by I guess.

Just wondering what others think on this?
Will I have more of a chance breakage on my SAS truck running the 36" tire vs the 33?

Naw I think 36's is the max I can do at the moment. I would require some more lift.
Also I think the 38.5x14.50's are gonna cost at least $40 more per tire.

There is no reason not to have larger tires. Make them fit. 36's should be close at 4", but if you bought the rig to beat, hack it up.

I was checking out my truck tonight since I was working on it. I think I can get the 36's to fit. I might have to get a 1" shackle lift front and rear or just do a 1" BL. There would be less trimming required to fit them that way.

Those are nice but way too huge for my truck.
I wheel in a wooded areas so 36's would be fine anything taller I would be clipping trees with my cab.

post up some pics of your rig...im running 35's right now on my 86 with a solid front axle with about 4.5" lift front and rear plus drop hanger...so roughly 5.5 total and they fit easily...thinking about getting some 36s soon, X-Terrains are just about toast.
I too was lookin at 36" Swampers...you'll be glad to have the extra clearance and with longfields/5.29s...why not do it.

Unfortuately I have to wait for about a week to get them since the tire place orders thier stuff fridays. So the tires will be here monday next week now.

Well there has been a delay yet again. I am waiting for my rims to arrive they should be here tomorrow and I called the tire place this morning thinking the tires would be there.
They told me not until next monday I guess they had a delay in shipping.


So it sits another week waiting for larger tires...

you should be able to fit 36s, plus take into account tire manufactures rarely measure up truly to the actual inch, usually its alittle smaller in diameter. Flex it out with the 36s and see what happens, maybe you'll have to modify your fenders/front wheel well alittle but shouldnt be anything major. This is my 86 on 35s with about 5" total lift and ALOT of weight on the Alcans, sorry only have trail photos as of now, but 36s fit perfect.

As far as clearance. I can either get some new springs or spend the money on a low mileage 22re EFI motor to replace my carbed 22r.

I think I am going to go with getting the engine for now wait on the springs.
I am probably gonna go cheap and trim some of the fender so they fit for now.

36s w/o a doubt. 33s are just too small for what you got already...trim the fenders...I woulda gone 37s but they wanted $75 more per tire...and the 35s were just too good a deal at $140 each!

I'll get some 37s later after I trim the fenders to get rid of the rust...

Here's my 83 truck... 36" TSLs.



I ran those same rims... but it rubbed on the frame like crazy!! Now it has 15x10" (which are ideal for swampers) w/ 2.5" backspacing. I love it.
Just had to post to post up... cuz our trucks are so similar.
