Detroit EZ locker questions

Several months ago I installed a Detroit EZ locker in my 2nd generation V-6 automatic 4 runner. Seems to work pretty well and I've gotten used to the locker wiggle and such.

Recently I've found that if backing up a hill on an angle that I get a pop pop pop and it feels like something is not right. I also get this backing up with a load on - like my boat.

My question - does this seem normal ? I don't like the way that it feels.
I have no driveability problems and no weird noises other than when backing up an incline. It does ratchet in parking lots. I'm just wondering here !

I don't think you have any thing to worry about. DT are known to pop/ bang a little. I had DT for a while then switch to cable converted elec. locker. less wear and tear on the tires.

That's cool - It works fine moving forward and off-road makes a big difference - just weird that backing up causes the weird noises.
Also seems to lock and un-lock when backing up
