I've got an 01 Tundra with 110k. Modsa re listed in my sig.
I get between 14mpg and 19mpg, but usually about 17mpg.
I tow an air-compressor around for work from time to time. Its an Atlas Copco XAS186. Puts out 375cfm at 150psi. According to the specs its right abotu 4,000 pounds, and I usually have about 1,500 pounds of crap in the bed. It pulls it around ok, doesn't like hills though. I get about 10 to 11mpg when pulling it.

I had Firestone Wilderness tires on my old Blazer(Sold to 1st buyer-Constantly in the repair shop). I took it through some real slop and never got it stuck. I hope the Firestone Destination AT do as well, and haven't had a chance to get my Tundra real muddy yet.

My dad has a 02 Sequoia. If you plan on regularily towing you may not be happy with the 4.7. It feels every pound of our 3,000 lbs boat/trailer, especially going up hills. Fuel economy is decent, but not as good as a 5.3 Chevy, which just happens to pull better. ~17mpg mixed, gotten a little better with age. Occasionally has pulled down 20mpg on long interestate trips (possibly with a tailwind).
I was looking at getting a Tundra based on the power increase on the VVT engine and 5 speed auto, but everyone over at TundraSolutions said the power gain was only at the higher RPM, not the low to middle RPM range where this engine needs help. At least the 5 speed auto would help finding the correct gear.
His is somewhere north of 130k now, nothing but timing belt/water pump at 100k. It has a hell of a nasty tick, we've had people tell us it's as rod knock (parking lot mechanics). But it's been there since the truck was nearly new, just getting louder over time. Won't bother fixing it as long as power/fuel mileage remain good.

The knocking that you're hearing is the injectors...or a bad manifold.
I've got an '00 with a 110k, no problems (other than the ticking) and I get 16-18 mpg. Have seen as high as 22 on the hiway (going 65 driving behind my dad pulling his 5th wheel).
Hope to get another 100K on it before I decide to move to the new tundra (need more room than the ac offers).

Does anyone know if I go up to a 265/70 from stock 265/65 tire on a 03' tundra if they will rub? I was looking at Firestone AT tires at first, but at 4wheelparts.com they have Nitto Terra Grapplers for 109 each with free shipping on a set of 4. It seems like a great deal. Is there anyone else runnung on the Nitto TG's, if so do you like them?
PS. Cool Dog!

Hey the 265/70's will be fine. Also, I'm currently running the nitto at's and they are a great tire. I've got 55k on mine and still have another 10k before the HAVE to be replaced. But, I think I'll be switching to the bfg's next time. The nitto's just didn't do as good in the dirt and mud as my bro's bfg's do...
Thanks! (for the dog remark, he's the best one I've had so far..)

I have an '02 model and love it! It's got 285's and a Fabtech lift. Gas mileage isn't great, but WAYYY better than my old lifted 3.0 4runner. It guzzled.

Thinking about one
I'm thinking about buying an '05 double cab SR5 4X4, with 65,000 miles. The owner just wants the pay off $17,500. I need more towing and room. I'd like to tow the Creep to NM to go rock crawling. Think it will tow it? Oh yeah the Tundra owner want to buy '89 truck, what should I sell it for?

It'll tow it just fine, won't get the best gas mileage in the world while doing it. But I think you'll be suprised what that lil V8 can do.
Don't have an experience with the supercharger, other than it requires premium gas and it will only work on '04 and earlier trucks. Maybe someone else can chime in to answer that question.

I Have A Tundra And Have No Complaints.
i FINALLY got it! My wife was driving it for 2 years until we got a new car. I gave up my 97 tacoma and had an upgrade waiting for me. Now I added a few mods and still hoping to ad more. I had my tacoma 7 years without any problems. Other than a spark plug shooting out of the hood but overall its was an awesome 7 yrs and 132,000 miles.

Nice truck Bull!! My bro's got your twin. They are bad-a$$ trucks. I wish Toyota would have just kept the DC's body and thrown that beast of an engine in it.
Could you imagine that 5.7 in your style of a truck? It'd be PERFECT!
