2007 tundra touchy gas peddle

I just bought a 2007 Tundra with the 5.7. I love the truck but the gas peddle is so spongy and touchy that when I have to drive on bumpy roads i cant control the pressure on the peddle and keep the truck from lurching. Is there any way to stiffen the gas peddle so its not so touchy? I have to drive a lot of rough and bumpy roads and this is driving me crazy especially on gravel roads because the traction control practically stays on when I'm on a bumpy gravel road with any kind of incline.

This is a common complaint we have at the dealership. Take it in and see if the truck has had the gas pedal recall done. If it has, I believe there is an updated pedal assembly available for the exact complaint your having.

I've got an '08 Tundra, All these trucks have touchy throttles. I've always been told its just the nature of an electronic throttle. You do get used to it, and get better at controlling it after driving it a while though. I do alot of offroading and driving on rough roads and I hardly notice the touchy throttle anymore.

Thanks for the reply. I have researched it a little more and a lot of people said that after the recall, if it was only shimmed, they had a spongy pedal as well. I guess I'll call the dealership. I assume they did the recall work there if it wasn't done because it was a trade on a new Tundra and they told me it had a full work over in their shop. I saw elswhere that if they had used the full pedal replacement instead of shimming that it would feel better. I'll see. Thanks again.

Moved the thread into the tundra section. Would be good for others to see this. Let us know what happens.

Hi. Any updates on this?
I bought an 07 two weeks ago, and finally got a chance to drive it a bit last night (on way to work.... sigh).
It was driving me crazy.

update.

I have had the truck about a year now. I took it to the dealer to find out if it had the recall work done to the gas peddle. They said the recall was for the floor mat and that it had been done. They told me there was no updated peddle assembly. Oh well, I'm getting used to peddle now anyway. Still love my Tundra.
