a good deal on a 92 land cruiser?
i've come across a 92 land cruiser with 134000 miles on it for 5150. the dealer is a repo lot that is lined up with my fed ex credit union. they always have a great deal on something. i bought a 2000 extra cab 4x4 tacoma from them a few years ago for 15000 flat. it was a great deal and a great truck. anyways, my point is, i don't know jack about these trucks. are they expensive to maintain? i will be doing as much maintenance as possible by myself. what are the problem areas that are common with these trucks? here is a link to the ad if i can do this right.

For one in excelent cond kelly blue book says $7370 in Az. with standard equip. There are quite a few out here that are f'n bad ass. I'd get one if I didn't already have the runner.

I wouldn't pay more than 5k for a 91-92 (actually I wouldn't buy a 91-92, I would get a 93+), the 93+ are much better with the new engine, 4 wheel disc brakes, ABS, optional front/rear lockers, full floater rear axle, etc...

I agree that the '93+ are better in many ways.....
However the 91-92's are still a great truck......It is a heavy rig but you can bring everything you have and if you are willing they are fantastic bobbed! The MPG figures quoted are about right but well tuned you may get 15.....

it will be a station wagon for the wife and kids at most and depending on how painful the mpg's are maybe a short road trip here and there. is it the same for the 3fe on the fj80 as posted in the other thread about the fj62 with the gearing as far as highway speeds and high rpm's killing the motor. how expensive are replacement parts? is it worse than usual for dealership prices?
