Prob make a trip in January, Ang's sister is down here for the holidays so its just their cousin up in CS till school starts again. I plan on buying everything for the timing belt after the holidays so even if Ang doesn't have the time to head up I can use that as an excuse to come hang out lol

On a side note, do either of you guys (Mauzer or Skydiver) have any mechanical experience? Its getting time to replace my timing belt, water pump, thermostat, etc. soon and I would much rather do it myself if at all possible because I would like to learn, and save some $$$. I just don't feel comfortable doing it myself because my mechanical experience is limited so it would be nice to get some help from someone who knows what they are doing.

Bummer , I'm not going to be able to make it this weekend. My fiance's sister is flying in to visit so I have to play host...I appreciate the offer though!

Between all those guys (Mauzer, AlienXT, and YotaRob), you should be able to find a collective intelligence to guide you through the steps. I am doing mine this week too. I am in Katy if you want to make the drive and knock yours out too.

Man I am just never in the right place at the right time...I am in Albuquerque visiting friends and spending Christmas with my family and won't be back in Austin until after new years. I really appreciate the offer though!

Let us know of any advice, tips, tricks, etc. you run across during the install.

Changed out the old plugs and wires this weekend, the PO had put in all single electrode cheapo champion plugs (jerk) so I replaced everything with NGK products. Engine feels stronger now but that could just be in my head

Good choice with the NGK stuff! I replaced my stock plugs and wires with NGK and they definitely made the engine run smoother, especially at idle.

Nice, I also put in a K&N air filter that I scored for $5 (thank you YT classifieds). I cleaned the MAF not too long ago so I'll pull it in a month or two and see if the K&N gunks it up more than normal.

The best plugs are Denso. NGK's are the second recommended.

Really? all the info I read said to go with the NGK's. I know from the factory they are equipped with 3 Denso/ 3 NGK

I put 6 denso plugs in Brandy's. That is what they have always sold me at the local dealership and what they put in all of the 3.4's they service.

Huh, I also thought that NGK's were the best...When I replaced the plugs and the wires I figured it would probably be better to go with all NGK products rather than getting NGK wires and some other brand of plugs.

Denso makes wires too, Denso part# 7919-05052279

Next time I'll go with Denso then, probably not a huge difference but I like to use the best and I trust that if Toyota is using the Denso plugs then that's what I should use in the future
