I saw a taco today with a chrome skid plate under it. Does anyone know if there is something out there for a 2nd Gen Runner? I really like the way it looked. I have a bunch of chrome on the front of my runner and think it would go good. No luck finding one though. Perf sells one, but it only fits if you've got a lift.

Hey Joey I know that Explorer Pro Comp sell one for a 2nd Gen but I cant remember if its chrome or not. Ill have a look in their catalogue for ya

Luke in the small print it says it will only fit if you have the Pro Comp lift.. I dunno what would change having a lift but it must be something.

Rockstomper makes nice skids, but they are not chrome. But they are the beef.

What are you trying to protect? Oilpan, transfer case, gastank???

Budbuilt has a good reputation and can fabricate whatever you need, same thing with Rockstomper. Shoot a line to bud@budbuilt.com or scott@rockstomper.com. These aren't really a mass-market product, it will probably be a custom job regardless of who you get it from. For what it would cost to have something made Stateside and shipped you could probably find a Brittish or European fabricator to make the same thing.

Edit: Why do you want it to be chromed?? Do you want the turtles and rabbits to be able to see their reflection as you run them over? Don't forget to chrome your sway bars , frame, and rear axle while you are at it.

I hate to say this but my truck used to sport a NWOR front skidplate (1st thing I ever bought from 'em a long time ago) and it's actually pretty tough. It's now mounted on my dad's truck though. A friend of mine actually polished his to a mirror like finish.

Hey guys thanks for the advice. I am not looking for anything beefier I just want something different than that old beat up black thing down there. (Actually mine is still straight, too straight) Anyways it doenst have to be chrome just something other than black to catch the eye.. Hey I know maybe I should powdercoat it Hot Pink that should work eh..hahaha

Arnold, I too use to have the brass colored front skid plate, and truss on my '90 Toyota I use to have.
And I also had the rear truss too.

They were actualy quite high quality and beefy coming from NWOR.
Not once did that truck ever have a front wheel alignment it it's 110K life.
That was due to the front truss that I had to drill a few holes to mount it there.

I keep telling myself to order Scott's front truss brace, and one of these days I may get around to it

A friend of mine had a big piece of aluminum laying around that he wanted to throw away so I used it to bend up my own skidplate. It's solidly mounted to my bullbar and Scott's rear brace.

OK, so you have Scott's brace. You have to measuer under there first right?
I think I remember reading that it can vary by .25" or so, so you have to measure first before ordering from him?

I know it was a bitch to drill the holes on the IFS on my '90 for the NWOR one.
Four holes if I remember right.
Does Scott's mount more easily?

You're correct Corey, you measure before ordering to ensure a perfect fit. Having sharp drill bits will make the job easier. In fact I was talking to a friend on the phone while I was drilling. This kinda distracted me though 'cuz one of my holes didn't come out straight.
