What is ECTS......
Hey guys, so now i got me a 2004 tacoma 2wd 5speed that i use for work. i was under the hood looking at the fuse box and saw ECTS so i look under the box and the fuse is missing. what the hell is this do i need it.........

I was gonna guess electronic controlled traction system 
the last person took the fuse out so he could burn some rubber..

It's a typo on the fuse box labeling ... Seriously ...
There is no official Toyota acronym 'ECTS'. The electronically-controlled automatic transmission is 'ECT'.
A new 15A fuse was added to the Tacoma main fuse box with the 2003 model year. It's labeled 'ECTS'. Nothing with the name 'ECTS' arrived in the 2003 model year.
What *did* arrive with the 2003 model year was the Electronic Throttle Control System (ETCS: aka ETCS-i) on all 5VZ V6's other than the 2WD manual (i.e., S-Runner). The mysterious 'ECTS' fuse appears in the engine control wiring diagram for 2003 and 2004 5VZ's with ETCS (anything other than an S-Runner), but not in the equivalent diagram for S-Runners, 2RZ or 3RZ models.
This 'ECTS' fuse is not shown as having any involvement with the electronically-controlled auto tranny (ECT) circuits on any applicable model during 2003 - 2004.
So ... Even though that's the way the fuse is listed in the FSM documentation, it's obviously a typo ...

just to dig this thread back up, since I also have the same question and it doesnt seem spectacularly resolved... I has a v6 2001 taco, I was wondering if this fuse is related to cruise control? as my cc isnt working....

So in case you, or anyone else, doesn't know EXACTLY what ETCS is allow me to simplify. It's "fly-by-wire" throttle control technology essentially. No more throttle cable, just electronic sensors and a servo motor. The part that makes it ETCS-i is that the system involves other things besides accelerator/throttle position sensing and throttle control.
