V6 swap for a 4Runner
Hey folks,
I did a trip last weekend to Anza Borrego. I was talking to my pal Jack and he wants to find a salvageable, newer 3.4L V6 front end in a boneyard and take the whole thing and swap it into his 4runner which currently has a 4 cylinder. So, first of all, do you know anyone who has done this? And second, do you know where he might find the engine/parts he is looking for? He is located in So-Cal.

I used this site to track down a new dashboard, but also looked to see what 3.4 V6's cost. (in the future I want to swap out a 3.4 for my tired 3.0)

I checked it out and there is a big list of V6 engines in the western states and CA on there. Thanks.
Yea, those are LC rims. He said he bought them very cheap from someone who was ditching their stockers for a custom set of wheels.

Has anyone thought about an iForce swap? Prolly not enough room, but it might be worth looking into..? I mean... if they can fit a viper V10 in a wrangler... then anything is possible

Dayum Austin! That's a pretty good idea. The new V6 would be sweet too. Although I would imagine that one of these powerplants might be a little more difficult to come by so soon, and quite a bit more costly.
The wheels are from a Land Cruiser - not sure which one. I'll find out.

Offroad Solutions is making a harness for the 4.7L Tundra V8. This is a quote from an email they sent me:

OK, I got some info from Jack regarding the Land Cruiser wheels. Here are my questions and his replies:
Can you tell me what year/type LandCruiser they came from? Did you have any issues or troubles with mounting them up?
I believe these wheels came with 96, 97, and 98. They all use the same type. No problem what so ever. Plug and play. I was at Discount Tires buying some BFG AT's. I saw the rims on the corner. Someone had just swapped them. I got an excellent deal. Can't remember how much for sure, but it was $200.00 or so for the set. I could not be more happier with the wheels. They seem to be of excellent quality.
Also, what size tire are you running and how much lift?
I am running BFG MT's 265/75
I was running BFG ATs 285/75. And at on point I had 295/75 but they were rubbing.
I have the Downey springs on the back, I guess 2.5"(?)
On the front I have FabTech on whatever level the 4Runner.
