I have a 95.5 Tacoma and was wondering if anyone has any experience with the total chaos long travel suspension. The pictures on their website look pretty cool, but I want to know how it rides and how much it costs. Thanks

dont know how it rides, but im guessing its expensive. lots of guys in hawaii run them along with kings/dr's etc to get lots of lift...if theyre the same as the 4runners, theyll make your front track a lot wider than stock.

it is the bomb i'm saving up for my kit, rides great works even better i was very impressed with my buddies kit w/ coilovers.

I had it on my tacoma. It rides great, but look into how you are planning on widening the rear to match it. A tundra rear end will work perfectly for width.
Keep in mind that once you long travel the front then you need to do the rear or you'll never enjoy it.
Then the truck can go fast and catch air which will start to bend the frame so a full cage is the smart thing to do. You'll need fiberglass fenders.
etc etc etc.
Its a slippery slope. The kit will just be a few thousand. Then the shocks will be a few thousand. Then the fiberglass a thousand. Then... and then...

I do love that kit though. Just be ready to spend some money!

Yea, I kind of figured it would be expensive. I am looking to upgrade my suspension and I'm not sure where to go from here. I have the Fabtech 3.5" basic coilover system on the truck now and I'm not totallly happy with it.

when i priced the kit out, you are looking at around 2k for the kit, another few hundred for the tundra CV's to maintain 4wd, 500 or so to get a decent set of coil overs, about a grand for the 'glass and paint.

how far you go after that is up to what you want to do with the truck. BruceTS has that kit, seen it in action plenty of times. he can do the go fast desert and dune stuff, but ive also seen him follow solid axle guys up trails like john bull in big bear. if you arent planning on racing the truck, then im not entirely sure you need to do a long travel on the rear (its been done by a member of another forum, not horrendously difficult or expensive) also not sure you need a cage for frame stiffness, etc.

i say, for the full front suspension with cv's and fenders (painted, please no bare white 'glass up front...), you are looking at around 3 grand. maybe 4 tops. alot of people dont bother widening the rear, since it means heavy medication to the rear of the vehicle, not bad on a tacoma, but on a 4runner it is very difficult with the rear door.

I was kinda curious about that TotalChaos long travel kit in combination with the 6" Fabtech drop down bracket and some big coil overs, what would be the out come, or if it's possible? I like what SC4Runner did with his 6" lift and I also like the idea of long travel.

Ya, thats an interesting idea but, please don't ever try it!! You're asking for lots of trouble, and it would be cheaper and 10000000000 times better to do a solid axle swap.

As for the long travel kit, if you've got the money, go for it... I've heard good things about it.
