haha i deff. will, i think realistically its going to happen in eairly september...because then i have acsess to a plasma cutter...and welders and stuff in my autoshop class....but thats not too far off

Wouldnt wheeling without the doors create a structural issue? There are some stresses that the body and frame going through, keeping the doors in place helps keep everything "structurally". Does this make sense?

No, I'm talking about all that damn dust. I'd rather wash the truck 2x for every time I have to wipe down the ENTIRE enterior with Armor All, vacuum every square inch and apply Febreeze.

thats probly going to cost you an arm, a leg AND a pretty penny
Now I just need to find a "donor" door to practice on, then Ill need a 4runner door to do the actual half door, lol
anyone want to send me thier door ?
In all honesty, this will probley be a winter project, Id really like to do this, but Ive got other things that need to be done first.

i think those looks so sick! whats the functional point of having tube doors though? is it legal reasons? past that i cant see anything that they would accomplish safety-wise...

how about preventing objects (branches, logs, prickle bushes, etc etc) from hitting the driver/passenger?
something to hold onto, or prevent people from falling out (who wears a seat belt when theyre 4x4ing?)? ...and therefore increased sense of security?
increase structural rigidity?

i wear a seatbelt as well but fair enough, some of those reasons are good. while still a huge open area, there is at LEAST some protection against branches and such. something to hold on to...yeah thats true, but keeping people from falling out? nah. if youre at such an angle where youre going to fall out of your door, that extra foot on the bottom isnt going to stop you. and as far as structural rigidity goes...the doors have a simple latch on them (depending on design). i would think that these doors offer no structural support or very little.

plus ontop of all those other reasons...you can lean out and see where your tire is placed on a rock etc...but idono about any safty these provide...other then mentioned...

...yea, they are a little low.. I checked the picture again and the top goes to like the bottom of the seat....
4X Innovations can custom make them, so you could probably have a couple made so that they are as high as the normal doors, or something..

im going to make my own at SOME point, theyll probably be pretty straight though as i dont have a practical way to bend the tubing.

ya thats my major problem with wanting to do that too...but im thinking about getting a really cheap piupe bender from harbor freight or something like that...

most muffler shops have mandrel tube benders, I'm sure if you took your tubes there with the specs, or degree bend you need that they could bend them for you for cheap..
