Timing problem
Hello all, I'm relatively new to Yotatech but have been eavesdropping for awhile. I have problem with the timing of my 94 v6, it reads 25 degrees BTDC some of the time (whenever I take it for smog check) but at other times reads correctly at 10 degrees. Discussed it with a mechanic who seems to think the vibration damper is slipping giving an incorrect timing reading. Does this sound plausible? Someone else mentioned the throttle position sensor as being the culprit, I'm willing to undertake replacement of the vibration damper(but not looking forward to it!) but how can I be sure it is the problem? I'd appreciate any help!
After doing a more exhaustive search, it looks like the tps could be the problem, at least it is easier to trouble shoot then the damper.

i doubt its the crank pulley, if the rubber part of the pulley doesnt adhere to the metals, things would wobble and eventually fall out. ive seen this on one of my car and it seized up the crank bolt.
