I was just wondering if there were any clubs for 4Runners? I have been looking into doing some mild off-roading (I have a 4x2) here in Southern California, but can't seem to find much in the way of Toyota truck clubs. There seem sto be a HUGE following for Jeep enthusiats and that's what I'm looking for, just for 4Runners or Toyota trucks in general.

Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

is the toyota 4 runners owner club.... we are kinda a doormant bunch, though..... keep posting on this site.. there are tons of 4runner guys in southern CA

there is actually an officail yotatech pismo run in a month and tons of people from socal are going

i was looking of building a club of my own, although im new to the 4x4 scene so i would need to be the organizer but someone else who would plan the trails and stuff..

yeah, watch the off road trip planning section on this board. events around so cal come up every so often, and some are either 2wd friendly or have parts of the trip that are 2wd friendly. the biggie coming up is the pismo 4rj3 in early august.

The TLCA (Toyota Land Cruiser Association) actually is a club for all Toyota 4wds. www.tlca.org My local Chapter (Rising Sun 4WD Club) has many 4 runners in the club and is the sponser of Cruise Moab. What I would recommend is you go to the TLCA site and find a club close to you and call them up. You should be able to go to meetings and a few runs without joining to see if you like it

What city in "SoCal" would help alot.
If San diego, you're in luck, we have runs nearly every month.
If in L.A area, then your best bet is probably pismo, or come down to SD.

welcome to the forum... does your runner have a e-locker? a 2wd with locker and good driver can get just about as far as a 4wd open diff with a bad driver.. lol

Yeah my dad is a member of TLCA and he says that there are many other toyota 4x4 owners not just land cruiser as it was stated before. he likes the club. he doesnt have a chance to go to a lot of the meetings or runs but he gets their magazine and stuff and i he goes every once and a while. i think i will soon be a member of that.

I don't have an e-locker on my truck. In fact, I don't know the first thing about them. I am starting to get into the difference between 4x2 and 4x4, and know that a locking diff would greatly help. I wouldn't even know where to begin though. Any help on that subject? I'm a newbie to the off-road community, but I like what I know about it so far!

might be in for a hard time. and i know... i know...

in reality, you might be looking at fire roads. flat ones at best.

i'll give you personal experience. once i broke a front axle shaft in mine. was too lazy to take it apart and replace, so i just went in 2wd for the rest of the day.

way i found out i broke was while climbing a rock face, several others in unlocked 4wd vehicles made it. but even when i found out i was in 2wd only, and then locked my arb rear locker, i still couldnt make that climb. even the bypass that i took, i had issues.

another experience. last year, while in a SVRA park, it was muddy. i was behind a taco. he was spinning and spinning in mud. he had decent tires. then as i got closer, i noticed the PRERUNNER badge on the back. as he let me pass, i continued on in 4wd, but i didnt lock my rear locker (i couldnt control the front tru-trac though).

kinda. one is i hate for you to break parts and then even be more frustrated.

now, no chance i can ENCOURAGE you to do a solid axle swap on it, thrown in a transfer case or TWO (okay, maybe a transmission swap too) and then have 4wd to really have fun with?????????
