I'd take the truck to the oil change place and tell them you were going to do the oil change this time but couldn't get the bolt out. Let them figure out how to get it off and what recourse is now left.

I had a very similar experience with quick-lube place a long time ago, and they were more than willing to just install an oversized plug with a magnet in the end for no charge. A little more haggling/arguing, and they comped me one free oil change, just to keep me as a customer. For the record, though, I do all my oil changes now...

Using an oversized plug really isn't a big deal. They are slightly tapered and will cut new threads in the oil pan. And like I said above, most have a magnet in the end. So, I'd definately try taking it back to them first ans see if they will get the stripped one out and put in a new one.

Put this on after you took out the old bolt: www.fumotovalve.com and you'll never have to remove your plug again to drain the oil. I have it on all my trucks/cars/motorcycles. I just put one on my new 2003 4Runner on its 1st oil change last week.

was just paging through my 4runner parts catalog and happened upon the Toyota Part Number for your oil pan:

12101-75050 toyota list is ~$128

but 1st toyota has it 30 bucks cheaper. see my above post. same oem product.

Thanks. I'll let you guys know if Jiffy Lube decides to do anything to alleviate the problem. If not, this will surely come in handy.
