Steering Column Re-built anyone?
I have a 2001 T4R SR5 with 137K on it. Just came back last week after a re-build of the
steering column (on the way back from Toronto to Boston the steering decided to get very "loose")....that took about 4 weeks waiting for various parts at the Toyota Dealer....Just wondered if anyone had encountered this problem?
Symptoms were that steering got so loose that turning the truck in any direction became scary! It would respond to steering input at different rates....
I had been bragging about how reliable the T4R has been but $2000 later I am not so sure....And then last night it won't start (it is the starter)....so it had to be towed in to the dealer this morning.....I can live with the starter going bad after 9 years but the steering column...THAT shouldn' t happen....
