Unhappy speedometer problem

My speedometer has gone out of wak recently. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. The needle will sometimes drop to zero when I'm driving. My runner is a 94. This has messed up my cruise control also. Also my p. brake light flashes on and off, as well as my seatbelt light on the dash. Has anyone encountered this before. Please help.
-Chris

p.s. could somebody also explain how to put a picture of my SR5 next to my name. I'm really not computer savvy.

Speedo

My '93 4Runner did what you describe with the speedo. It had what Toyota called a bad "speedo head" and they replaced it under the extended warranty (at about 44K miles). This was affecting how my transmission shifted (or wouldn't shift...:pat: )

As far as the other stuff - sounds like demons . Maybe your 4Runner needs an exorcism.

All kidding aside, brake light flashing sometimes indicates low brake fluid levels/excessive pad wear. The seatbelt light might be a loose connector in the buckle receiver. Mine doesn't always know that I have the buckle inserted. Probably just needs to get the years of gunk cleaned out of it.

Another shot in the dark - it might be a loose connector under the dash. Did you have any work done recently like an alarm install or other Toyota service. Alarm installers like to stuff the alarm brain up under tha dash + they are in the wiring. Just a thought.

Good Luck!!
