Spark Plug CAUTION !!!

I just got off the phone with a tech rep from NGK. (877-473-6767)

Someone with more patience and a better brain than I may want to call them and debate the subject of spark plug engineering late into the day, but I only wanted to know a couple of things.

I wanted to get it straight as to what plug I should be using in my 2002 4R ... Laser Platinum or Iridium

I also wanted to know what I should gap the plugs at for my application w/ SC.

From '96 to '02, Toyota has been using a dual ground strap plug. Forget about why, this is the plug design and the only plug design to use according to NGK. Furthermore, the plugs are laser gapped and IF you try to regap them you will not be able to get it exact, the spark will follow the path of least resistance and you will end up burning (wearing) off one side of the electrode before the other.

The Iridium plugs are, if I recall, a dual fire plug and a totally different design.

SO ...
The OE plug is the BKR5EKB-11
The OE Laser Platinum plug is the BKR5EKPB-11

The higher the character (number) in the fourth position, the colder the plug.
Therefore ...
One step colder in the Laser Platinum plug is the BKR6EKPB-11, referred to as Stock #3452

This is the plug that I am going to try in my '02 4R w/ SC.
