Running Board Replacement

Running Board Replacement
Has anyone replaced their running boards? I am looking to replace mine as they have quite a large build-up of rust under them.
My question is:
1. Have you used non-oem run-brds, and is installation pretty simple?
2. What is a reasonable cost associated with the purchase of new ones. I have never bought them for my other vehicles before.
Thanks!
p.s. I would love to just tear the old ones off and not replace them, however my wife drives the vehicle as much as I do and her 5'3 height "requires" a step of some sort.

you can choose between nerf bars (tubes) or rock sliders. Both will serve the purpose as step up. Will reduce build up of rust since it have a lot of clearance with the body when installed. removing the factory one is easy.
