Rear Diff Breather Extension

I did this modification today based on CustomTacos.com's write-up here.

The only thing I've never really seen is where people are putting their breathers. Some say in the gas cap area and others say all the way up to the engine compartment.

I chose to go to the gas cap area. However what I did was drill a 3/8" hole in the plate around the gas cap and by screwing the breather into that it threaded itself. There was enough thread on the back side of the plate showing, it was showing to the part that's dirty from being exposed, to connect the fuel line to it and use a hose clamp to keep it there. I guess to be really safe about it you could put some kind of sealant around the hose where it butts up against the back of the gas cap plate.

Just thought I'd share. Here's a picture:

It could have been a bit more to the left from where it's mounted since the clamp that grabs the plastic thing to keep the gas door closed was a bit in the way. I had to bend the top arm on the clamp so it would not touch the breather.

Nice clean install I have seen a few folks do the same thing. One of the bonus points for that location is that you have an external reference for how deep is too deep. You can instantly look at the filler door and if it's not under water, your breather is not either

That looks great. I'm about to do my extended breather mod, so I sure like getting to see where everyone has chosen to place them!!
