Several of you have offered suggestions for the problem I was having with my acceleration. It would seem to just drop all power once it hit 2700-2900RPM under normal acceleration. Well the problem ended up being the MAF. I tried cleaning it several times per some suggestions but apparently it was just bad.

I have a pretty good relationship with the guys at my local Firestone. They said that the AMSOIL filter was throwing way too much oil on the MAF and it was reading the air temperature incorrectly. It tried to compensate by adding too much fuel. They said the a/f ratio was consistently rich when the sin wave should be centered around .5volts. Anyway, it made sense to me, but I don't think the filter had anything to do with it. What do you guys think?

Regardless, it's fixed now!!

I spoke too soon. The problem started happening no more than a week later. I took it back and they spent a good 2 weeks along side of Toyota of Grapevine and have decided that the problem cannot be diagnosed because it is not tripping the check engine light.

If my S/C is dealer installed, it is under warranty with the 5yr/60000 mile power train warranty right?

It should be under your powertrain warranty if you had it installed at the dealership.

The dealership couldn't fix the problem because it didn't throw a CEL? Why didn't they duplicate the problem and diagnose from there?

Yeah, that's what they told me. They could duplicate the problem but couldn't diagnose it. Regardless, I got off the phone with another dealership (Fowler Toyota) and they're going to take a crack at it.

If any of you remember a year ago, I was having a problem because the dealer didn't install the IAC or the Free FMU when the S/C was installed. I had another dealer (Fowler Toyota) fix the problem.

For some reason, I was under the impression that the S/C was only covered for the 3 year/36000mile warranty. Thank god I was wrong.

This is typical of the 3.4. Keeping the MAF clean helps some, but the real problem is that the fuel map has a big flat spot at this rpm. Picks back up again at 3200 or so.

And no, it will not throw cel codes, because it is doing exactly what the fuel map says to do. Its just a crappy fuel map. It would be interesting to see on a dyno what the A/F mix is doing throughout the range.
