Had to get a door painted on my 4Runner and the body shop did a great job, paint matches perfect! The only problem is the painted panel is nice and shiny and the rest of the truck is kinda dull, with small scratches in the clear.

Anyone having any advice on compounds and techniques to use to get the other panels to shine so my newly paintd parts don't stick out quite so much. I have a power polisher, just wondering about componds to use, techniques, that sort of thing.

Yeah, a little rubbing compound and some elbow grease. An actual buffer is best though and not one of those little "for waxing" deals. Looks like your rig is black from your avatar, so I would recommend using Mirror Glaze wax after you are done buffing it with the rubbing compound. The Mirror Glaze is a little harder to take off and takes a little more time but the shine is well worth it.

If you do have or buy a buffer, make sure it is a slow speed one, or can switch to slow speed. You don't want to burn your paint. Also, after completing a body panel, flip the buffer over and turn it on and run a flat tipped screwdriver through the pad (cleans it).
