Opinion on Monomax shocks
Hey all,
I'm looking at shocks for my 97 4runner and am trying to decide what to get- Bilsteins or KYB Monomax. I know that everyone loves the Bilsteins, but I found a deal on a set of (4) KYB Monomax shocks. Can anyone tell me if they love or hate them etc.?
Thanks a bunch.

Thanks for those who replied to this. I did search, but found very little to noodle on. I was hoping anyone who bought a set and is riding on them now could comment on them. Not sure what to do now!
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Bought 4 Monomax
Just paid $257 for four Monomaxes....are ordered and will be installed next week. I'll let you know how they ride. Should be quite a bit better than my stocks with 125k miles on them.

After 60 or 70 miles...
Well, got the Monomaxes on this morning and put about 60 or 70 miles on them. The T100 handles great. Very much improved. They are stiffer than stock and certainly stiffer than my old shocks with 125k miles on them. Thus, they do make certain road surfaces more known than before...although this is not overbearing or unacceptable. The benefits outweigh the detriments.
Next purchase will be Revos to replace my regular Dueler ATs....

Thanks for the update. I picked up a set of (4) monomax shocks for my 97 4runner and put them on last week. Got them for 209 from an auction, and since the seller was in Denver, I had no shipping!
Overall, the ride is very much improved. Truck no longer bounces up and down several times after hitting a dip in the road at highway speeds. Just got back from the mountains, and the handling is much much better. The ride, like you said, is firm, and you can feel bumps somewhat, but not that bad at all. I don't know if they compare to Bilsteins in the firmness dept. but my hunch is that they are very similar. Overall, I would def. recommend them to anyone thinking of them.
Hope this helps.
