new upper ball joint won't seat
I got a new upper ball joint for my 99 4Runner. I rented the ball joint tool from the local store. I have tried for hours to get the ball joint to go in straight and it will not; each time it goes a bit sideways and stops.
I cannot start the ball joint in by hand because it is too tight.
Has anyone run into this before or have any hints to get it started straight?

Should seat in once u tighten up the joint to the spindle. I normaly beat it in with a ball ping hammer then guide it (stud into spindle) put the nut on and tighten it up. Normaly seats it self. On my 95 taco it goes thru the spindle to control arm. Either way it goes just get it lined up and tighten it up
