New Member with a few questions
Well this is my first post, So hi Everybody
I've been reading on here for a few days now and am still amazed at the amount of info on this site!!!
I'm about to do a really good tune up on my Pick-up and have been gathering up all the parts I need for it
oh yah it's a 91' 4x4 xtra cab pick-up 3.0 v6
New Rad - old one has been leaking for a while
Water pump
Timing belt
Rad hoses
Crank and cam seals
Thermostat
Spark plugs
My pick-up has just about 400,000 KM (about 248K miles) and really runs strong so I would like to give it a long over due treat.
My question is about the Timing belt idlers, I would like to change them when I do the water pump and TB, But the dealer says I can only buy them as complete units. The one with the water outlet is $238 and the adjuster one is $175 Ouch!!!
So can I just replace the bearings in them when I get it apart or do I have to replace the complete assemblies??
Any help would be great.
Scott

Thanks for replys guys.
After all the reading i've done on here in the last few days I have to say this is by far the most civilized forum I have been involved with.
I guess Toyota owners are a little more relaxed than the average internet user

welcome aboard I have done many t-belts on them and only had one with a bad idler at the water hose outlet. I got the idler from toyota and it was not cheap. That idler pulley bearing is pressed on to the pulley my only guess would be to find a bearing place in your area and have them try to match it up. good luck
