New LIft - Before and After Pics
I spent the morning installing a 2 1/2" Daystar spacer lift on my 4Runner. I'm thinking new tires are in order now. What do you think?

IT lost some of the black when you lifted it
We've been going through some strange weather over the last week or so. We had a tornado about a 1/2 mile from our house a few days ago. I was driving home when I spotted it. It looked like it was heading straight for my house. When I pulled up to my front door, my kids were standing on the porch wondering what the loud tornado warning siren was. I herded them into the basement for a while. Luckily the tornado died out before it hit our housing area, but extremely heavy rain and hail continued for most of the night and into the next day.
Not good picture taking weather I guess.

It shouldn't take you too long to take the boards off...took me about 15 minutes, and 5 of those was fightin to get one of the bolts off with the breaker bar.
Looks good man, cant wait to see it with the boards off!

Well, the running boards are still on, but I got some new meats put on today. What do you think?
I got BFG Mud Terrain 285/75R 16s. It looks like I'm going to have some rubbing issues. I won't know how bad until I have a chance to take it off road.

They are a little louder than stock, but not too bad though. This is the third set I've had. I ran them on my '91 until I sold it. They're awesome tires.
The 285s are definitely a lot bigger than the 31s I had on my '91. I wasn't sure they were going to fit when they were putting them on. But when they brought it down off the lift, I knew they were the right tires. I can't wait to break them in. They look way too clean.

Im interested in the rubbing, and power..
Ive been tossing the idea of getting some 285's put on, but, I relaly odnt want too much loss of power and I dont want to install a BL or pound away at my fender.
When driving on-road, do you experience rubbing?
The 'Runner looks great by the way!

They will rub and its going to sound pretty bad. shoot an e-mail to roger brown and get a 1.5 BL .. and that will fix your rubbing issues, and with only 1.5", it will still look stock.
the tires really make it look good

Thanks for the compliments. You guys are right. There's definitely some rubbing going on. I'm a little concerned.
I went to the local ORV Park with some friends today. In the front I was rubbing on the upper A arm at full flex, and a little bit on the frame at full turn. I think I might have also managed to make contact with the running board too, but just barely if I did. In the back, I rubbed on the rear mud flap.
I think I can trim the rear mud flap to eliminate the rubbing but I might have to replace one of the bolts that hold it on with a lower profile screw. In the front, I'm not sure what I can do. It looks like I need a spacer to move the wheel away from the frame. That should prevent contact with the A arm and the frame, but might cause more rubbing with the fender flares. Anybody have any ideas?
As I said above, I'm definitely rubbing. On road, it only rubs on the frame when I turn at full lock. If I go slow enough it doesn't rub, but if the suspension flexes during the turn it rubs. That's the only rubbing I saw on road.
The difference in power is noticable but not too bad. I feel like the deckplate mod almost makes up for the bigger tires. I don't know about gas mileage yet, though. I'm still on the same tank and put some hard miles on it today at the ORV Park.
As far as pounding on the fender goes, I'm not sure what people mean. I didn't see a pinch weld that would interfere. It's mainly plastic that it's rubbing against (except for the frame and A arm of course).
EDIT: Oh yeah, I bent my running board today on an off camber hill climb. Looks like they'll have to come off now.

How much would it cost to get a BL installed? It looks like its a little harder than installing a suspension lift!
Plus, dont you need a steering extension, as well as a bumper drop, or is that not needed?
