New headunit aerial problems
Hey all, I am about to install a Pioneer DEH-4950 headunit and want to know what I have to do to keep the factory aerial going up and down when you turn the stereo on or off?? Any ideas. There is nothing on the installation directions. Cheers, Dan

I run a Rockford Fosgate and as long as you keep the power and memory wires hooked up useing the stock antanna in to the head unit it should work like stock raising and lowering in a normal fashion.

If you are just changing out the HU then it is a piece of cake to get it to work as it should. Just get the correct wiring harness for your truck and use it to hook up the deck. It will have all the wires in the right place and if the deck supports it will work.
You can get the harness at a lot of places but i just went to Best buy and got it for $20. Just tell them you need the wiring harness for your XX car and they will hook you up.

the pioneer unit should have a blue/white wire on the harness that needs to be wired to the blue wire on the aftermarket vehicle adaptor harness. the harness I use at work is metra part #70-1761
pioneer's blue/white wire only acts as a remote turn on, if you want to bring your power antenna down while listening to a cd, you will need to put a switch in line between the blue/white and blue.
hope this helps, if you have any questions feel free to pm me.

The HU directions should illustrate which one is the Power Antennae Wire?!
As said before, if you just get a wire harness adapter for your vehicle it is even simpler, like, click, click, click...

Yeah, this is by far the easiest way and the $20 is the best money i spent on my system BY FAR. You get a better connection and you can still go back to stock if you ever want to. (say if you sell it)
