My new 3rd gen runner
I just bought my 1st 3rd gen runner yesterday from Deathmage here on the board, an let me say that I love this thing. It's a 99 SR5 4x4.I drove roughly 1,200 miles from 5am to 10:30pm to get it.I'm not too impressed with the mileage so I have to do a complete tune up,throttle body cleaning, and take the Yakima snowboard racks off to see if there's a difference.I'm going to stick a chrome grill gaurd on too.It has 165,000 on it but has about 1,000 on a rebuilt motor and I only paid $7,900!

i'd say you're not gonna be able to use the snowboard racks for your surfboard, it's too fat to fit in there.
and jedi, do yourself a favor - don't get a grille guard.

I guess he did something to the motor and broke a connecting rod and fried the pistons so he had it rebuilt. For the mileage,my 87 has 250,000 and my 91 had 200,000 so I'm not worried. For the price,I couldn't say no.Why no grill gaurd?

oh the miles, i didnt mean it was something to be worried about at all, just i have 126 on my 99 and i feel that i drive a lot, thats all. im not worried at all either.
i think by no grill guard, he probably meant that if you get into a front end accident, it can do more damage than protection. i had one on my last 4runner, and experiencing grill guard, stock bumper, and tjm, by far i like the tjm. if i were you i would either leave it as is, or get a real bumper.
