hey congrats on the work. just curious what BL and suspension lift did you end up going with?? i been researching for months now as well trying to figure out the best combo for my rig and liking.


anyone know what some of the better BL companies out there? if it helps im just doing the 1" BL just dont know which company to go with.

For the body lift definalty go with 4crawler body lifts. I am going to be installing the SS #1 kit "OEM lift"

very nice

im suprised you got the body lift on so quick. i have a question though. for the 12.5 wide tires, how much backspacing are you gonna use, and does anyone recommend using a 1 inch wheel spacer to fit them? i just ordered 285/75/16 muds and im wondering if i could have gotten the 12.5 wides instead like him.

97 4runner, ome lift, 16x8s, 285/75/16 procomp muds, 2 kicker amps, 3 audiobahn 10" subs,

I ordered wheelers steel 15x8 with 4" backspacing. They will be shipped to my house thursday, and hopefuly mounted by friday, so I will let you know.

Ok, well today I couldn't get my friend to help me, so I decided what the heck I will do it by myself. I only got the rear done. It took me about 6 hours. The first time I installed everything i figure out that I wasn't supposed to leave the stock cones on there, so I had to redo everything. Also just to ruin my day when I was taking the lugs off the wheel I broke the stud off my hub. Also when I was taking off the stock bumpstops I broke the bolt right at the bottom of the nut and the nut is welded to the frame, so I dont know how I am going to get that off? Any suggestions?

But anyways here are some pictures(remermber this is just with the rear installed)

damm looks like a hot rod.... as far as fixing the stud it has to be pressed out and a new one pressed in

Dang man, props for trying to do it all yourself!

Are you going to be able to get outta the garage once you put your tires on? Looks really close from that picture.

The rear lug/studs are easy to change out, take off the brake drum and knock the broken stud out. You can get a new stud and Carquest, Autozone, NAPA, etc.

As for the broken bolt, you can drill a hole into and through the bolt and use an easy out to extract it. A reverse twist drill bit type thing. Or you can drill it out just before hitting the threads and use a tap, to clean the threads out.

Well, after 30 minutes trying to compress the stock coils with the spring compressor, I decided it was not worth it, so I took them to a shop and had them assemble the struts. After a 6 hour wait for the shop I get them back and finally finish my lift. I am very pleased!

I am hoping the back springs will settle a little.

Put some mileage on and it will go down. You can use Kyles pictures as a reference, upon install the top of his tire, like yours was below the top of the frame, after some use, it was at the top of the frame.

Keep in mind these are brand new coils that have small diameter wire with wide wraps, they will go down. The Tundra coils on the other hand are thick wire with close wraps, they will not go down.

This lift is best with a custom rear bumper.

Awsome pics and writeup, this is gettin me excited to get everything done...My rear is finished, luckly I had bigger tires so you cant notice the hot rod like rake as much. My 4x4 shop at school is finishing up my front's for me. I was in the same boat as you with the whole spring compressor thing haha!...now get yourself some rock rails!

Looks good! How'd the tires end up fitting? Was there much trimming involved? And with the 4" bs, how far out are your tires sticking? Sorry for all the questions, but you just did what I hope to in the new year.

I actually have no rubbing right now. The tires stick out a good two inches from the flares, I like having them stick out that much.

looks really really nice...I have the same exact 4runner (except that its a '97) and I've really been looking into that lift. Let me just ask you...how has the ride changed from stock (on road)?
