Manual clutch pedal play....

in-law's 5spd one has funny clutch pedal feel.
It does engage clutch at all 5 spd without any issue, but the first half-way has no pressure. Could it be master cylinder or slave cylinder or both?. Or is it safe bet to replace both at the same time anyway because it is 13years old car with 140k miles (MY1996)? Any suggestion/advice? Thank you.

I would bleed it first and see if it gets any better. Then if it doesnt, replace em.

Make sure you check your fluid every 2-3 times you open the bleeder valve, found that out the hard way and had to start all over haha.
