Question Loose /leaky front CV to diff

Hi, everyone! Just checking out some info on the forum. Just something to keep me from being glued to the TV waiting on hurricane Frances to get here. Anyway, I was under my truck yesterday and I noticed a leak from the front diff where the passenger side CV goes into it. I guess I have the IFS (two CV's on front, driver side CV connected to solid shaft going into the diff and passenger side CV going directly into the diff). While I was under there I grabbed the passenger side CV where it bolts to the plate going into the diff and I was able to move it up and down, as in the direction of toward the ground and toward the top of the truck, not front to back. Is this movement normal? The leak seems to be coming from around the area where the plate bolted to the CV goes into the diff housing. I'm assuming that there is a seal there. Is it difficult to fix? I'm not too bad mechanically, but sometimes I can be as sharp as a marble about some things.

mine has some up/down movement, but it does not leak yet, there is a bushing in there that may have worn slightly causing the leak

Thanks, superjoe83. Is the bushing hard to replace?

I'm not sure, never done one, but i wouldn't think it would be too hard..., you will probably have to pull the diff out
