Anyone know what a SAS would cost for my year truck?

Anywhere from $250-$450 for a ok to good 8" front end from a salvage yard. (check Car-Part.com for your area)

A.O.R.'s kit is like $250 I think. http://www.aor4x4.com/ifs.htm There is other good brands too.

No Idea how much leaf's are. like 75-200 maybe.

Steering stuff too. dunno price. - Junk yard

Atleast $600 i'd say and up to like $1k for lift and all the stuff you want.

I was goign to get a 85 not running with bad frame and engine for like $250 and just take steering, leafs, axle, etc off that. Than you can get the kit and pull it off for like $500-$600.

Its kinda hard you better be fimiliar with a torch and welder, but deffinetly worth it in the long term department I'd say for serious off roading especially out where you live.

It depends on how savvy your are with your cutting/welding skills and knowledge of parts. If you can't weld really well (remember we're talking about your suspension, not a bumper or similar) and don't know the in's and out's of what is required for cross over steering etc... it's pricey. You can get a kit here If you need it installed I'd say add another 600 bucks. You'll also need to find an axle.... it's not cheap for most.

AOR's kit is bare bones. They don't cover steering and Histeer alone is 500 bucks. If you go Alcan springs and you'll need 'em front and rear (plus new rear mounts)... you're looking at 600 right there.

If you do know the particulars, you can do it for pretty cheap. I'd strongly suggest you search.. and only post after doing so.. on Pirate. They tend to flame occasionally.

Thanks for all the info. Well i wont be able to do the swap myself since im only 16 and havent learned to weld very well yet. So im thinking maybe im getting in over my head with the idea of doing an sas. I dont know. The truck is used mainly as my daily driver but i take it offroad as often as i can. Am i asking too much of truck to be a daily driver and be very offroad capable? Should i maybe just keep the ifs and settle for a 4 inch lift 33's and a rear locker?

Andy, I'd say just get a mild IFS lift (1.5" ish) and go with the locker. Trust me, lockers are where it's at. A stock IFS with lockers will out wheel a lifted one.. heck IFS with lockers will out wheel an open diff solid axle any day. (don't myself many times)

For a daily driver, just keep what you've got for now and save the dough. Typically, won't take a daily drive where you need a solid axle. Money is better spent on rock sliders, lockers, etc... unless you are hardcore into rocks.

Why only 1.5"? Dont I need like a three inch lift for 33's? And who makes the best lifts for IFS equiped yotas?

I'd suggest doing a search cause there is so much info on here I could never remember it all.

In short, 1.5" suspension and 1" body lift fit 33's. Minor trimming might be required. You can do it cheap. Save that lift money for regearing/lockers, you'll be so much happier.

I feel awkward recommending my own stuff I guess because I don't want to sound like a salesman but... www.sdori.com for the front, www.4crawler.com for the body lift. The rears depend on the condition of your springs, but + 3" shackles are cheap and combined with longer shocks work well.

Your stuff looks good but i think that i want to go with suspension lift only. So im thinking about going with a 4 inch superlift. Anyone have any good or bad experiences with them?

i just got the superlift for my runner but b/c all my original parts are so old, they have to be replaced in the front end before the lift can be installed. becareful with this b/c you will most likely have the same issues. another guy around where i live has an 87 runner and this happened to him. Mines in the process of getting all the stuff done to it and when i get it back i'll get a pic of it with it's new lift and my old 32's on it.
